Enfield Caribbean Association has launched its very first, ‘everybody welcome’, Walking Group.

At the ECA luncheon club in September 2020, our members were very positive about the ECA starting a walking group. And so, today, with Covid restrictions eased, we were able to hold our first group walk.

The walkers and the ECA walk-leaders assembled in Pymmes Park and set off at 10.30am. The weather was mostly dry and very pleasant for walking. As the park was quiet, the paths were not busy and so made for a very relaxing stroll. The walkers chatted as they walked and paused when needed. As Pymmes Park has plenty of benches it was easy to take a seat when needed.

The group split into two ability groups, with the first group taking the longer route around the park and moving more swiftly. Group two took a more leisurely pace and the shorter route around the park. As we walked one of our more enthusiastic members engaged with passers-by and handed out flyers with details of our park activities; well done HT!

The walk lasted for 30 minutes, but we will walk for longer if there is a demand

All the walkers said they enjoyed the walk and plan to attend either the next Exercise in the Park session (Wednesday 2nd June), or the next Walking Group (Tuesday 8th June) both in Pymmes Park – meet at the Victoria Road/Park Road entrance from 10.15 for a 10.30am start.
